Alexandra Park 7s 3 – Southgate Olympic 4s 3

Minor Division 4 North | April 5, 2014

AP 7s – 3-3 V Southgate

Going into the game the 7s knew a result here could help the 6s with their promotion push, whilst also inspired by an early morning text from Matt Piner with the promise of free beer and a dance lesson from Banny!

The game started well with us dominating the possession, which payed off soon after when Charlie was fouled inside the box after bursting through on goal. White stepped up and slotted home from the spot, 1-0. However we took our foot off the pedal and conceded after some sloppy defending against their free kick. 1-1. With five minutes to go until halftime, a well worked free kick at the other end allowed Curran to power drive the ball into the top left hand corner, the ball is still currently stuck there!

Halftime 2-1

Southgate came to life in the second half with some great passing and movement. This payed off within minutes when they scored two quick goals, giving them a 3-2 lead, which they held on to until the last five minutes. Our equaliser came through Smith, who drilled one into the bottom corner from 30 yards!

Full-time 3-3.

Overall a very good result when you take into consideration they are top of the league and last meeting was a 9-3 loss. MoM has to be Harry Rodriguez, great work ethic, dominant in the air and always looks for the simple pass.
