Goals: Earle, Tabram, Wellman(3)
Well for one we started off with 11 man and we even had a sub. It was the total opposite of last weekend when we started off with 10 men. Without all the drama of the ref falling and breaking his wrist the lads was focus and ready to bounce back from last week’s heavy defeat.
We started off like a house on fire as we pressed IBIS and made them very uncomfortable and went 1 nil up after 10 minutes as it was great build up from the back with the ball ending up at Noah’s feet as he played a sublime ball in between the centre half and the full back that set off Wellman. He had a great first touch as he left the defence helpless and had a deadly second touch with a well-placed shot that left the keeper with no chance.
After the goal the team was full of confidence and we pushed for a second. We created an array of chances with Ben coming close with a bullet of a shot from 25 yards that beat the keeper and smashed the crossbar and went over. Think the crossbar is still shaking to this day. Chances started to comes as Wellman came close with a right footed shot inside the box that just whistled across the upright. The ref was having a poor game though as he wasn’t calling any fouls according to Noah. But to top it off right before the half he made a horrendous call as an IBIS player tripped over his own feet in the box and the ref gave them a way back into the game with a penalty. The IBIS player stepped up looked confident to equalize but the team had faith in Jason. It was a great shot to the keeper’s left but an even better save from Jason made the penalty look like lunch meat.
The lads didn’t take it lightly as we went right down the other end and made it 2 nil. We pressed high as Alex nicked the ball off the backline and another nice bit of one touch football ripped them apart with Ben providing a telling pass to Alex as he put the ball in the old onion bag with a big side foot into the corner. We ended the half on a high.
Skipper Burwell then gave a telling half time speech as the lads was looking to put the game to bed. We started the half off brightly with some nice football which deserved a goal. With a nice bit of play on the right Ben found himself in time and space whipped in a great ball behind the defence as Wellman sneaked behind and side footed the ball towards goal as the keeper made a great save but Wellman was on hand to tap home the rebound. After many chances came and gone the team was thinking he will never get his hattrick. James than found himself in acres of space on his favourite left foot and he made no mistake and buried a low hard shot to the left of the keeper, no chance. The chances didn’t stop there as Alex with some fancy footwork in the left corner picked out Andy making a late run into the box, a one time left foot shot spanked the crossbar again and went over. Chances kept rolling in as a shot from ben was too hot to handle and Wellman was there to clean up and complete his hattrick.
Skipper Burwell rallied the team to make sure we kept a clean sheet. The defence done well as Jason was a spectator for most of the game. It was a good game and we hope for more to come next week, keep it up lads we can win this league.
