Goals – Spencer (4).
This is the first match report that I have not dreaded writing, mainly because I have not had to dredge up the carry on style football of the day before from the depths of my angst-ridden mind from under a alcohol infused haze.
This was a game we dominated from start to finish. The gaffer gave us a talk before the game effectively telling us to man up and take responsibility for our own performances. We started pressing the game, the first time we have done so in a while. The tone was set by the skipper when he absolutely tore into a tackle and won a ball he actually had no right to win. We were making chances, but it were lacking the killer touch again – Tom, Elion, Skips and Egan all came close, but to no avail.
The best dressed man in football, Tom Spencer did open the scoring on the half hour mark when Zack tore the oppo fullback a new one and squared for the male model to roll the ball into the empty net.
At half time, we spoke of keeping the momentum up, and not letting the pressing game fade. We had a dodgy 5 minute spell, but soon got our mojo back. Own Goal King Woots was having a blinder in the middle with Ben Wilko, and our attacking quartet were looking a threat every time we got the ball forward. We made a couple of changes with Kier-on coming and Simmo coming on for Wilko and Skips. Soon after, the male model struck again, following a great piece of play down the right handside with Moruzzi and Elion laying it on a plate for him to roll into the empty net (yes, you are reading it right – Elion did pass!).
We killed the game in the last 15, when Claude came on for the ever impressive Zack. Our third goal was described by Zack as a ‘Fifa Goal’ – he was right – it was awesome – Nugz fed the ball to Claude, who held it up to allow Kier-on to overlap. He in turn swung in the sweetest cross you could see for Male Model to head home back across the keeper, completing the perfect hat-trick.
That same combo were at it again 5 minutes later, when the former swung another deadly ball into the box for the later to volley home with aplomb – 4-0.
On the whole, the scoreline slightly flattered the oppo. They were useful, but really did not test 2’s debutant Keeper Bardgie (whose kicking is IMMENSE!!). From the back we were excellent – stand out performers being Nugz at fullback, who is getting better with every game, and Egan who swallowed up everything in the air.
So boys, we can win. We really should have got results in 3 of our 4 league games – only the Parks game were we outclassed. I expect us to carry this across to Acton for BB Eagles next week – let’s really get going!!!
Man of the Match – honourable mentions to Nugz, Zack and Woots, but it has to go to ‘Perfect Hat-Trick +1’ Tom Spencer – Scarily good at the mo.
Team: Bardgett, Moruzzi, Nugent, McLoughlin (Simpson), Egan, Wootten, Wilkinson (O’Leary), Kenga, Morris, Amankwah (Mbelo), Spencer.
