Scorers: Cadrot, Fox, Kenga(2), N’Gola, Reader(2)
Having come from behind to beat Parks 6s just a couple of weeks ago we went into this game expecting a fairly tight contest. We had started our previous game against them poorly so the prematch chat was to look to get a good start and not let them settle.
For once the pre match instructions were listened to and we started much the stronger looking dangerous from the off. Cadrot, with his directness, and Kenga, with his dribbling, were causing the Parks fullbacks all sorts of problems and both had early chances to score. After we had an early penalty shout incredibly turned down we took the lead when a McLoughlin ball over the top which Cadrot ran onto and finished smartly. With the team pressuring Parks all over the pitch they were reduced to looking for long balls over the top which we dealt with comfortably. There best chance came from a header following a freekick but Emmott in goal pulled off a great diving save. We created plenty of chances to extend our lead before half time without being able to hit the target.
Despite dominating the first half we knew that an early Parks goal could knock off us of our stride so we went out to carry on as we had in the first half. Parks started fairly well and had a couple of half chances all which were dealt with by Emmott. Parks revival was short lived once Kenga, receiving the ball on the edge of their box, evaded a posse of four defenders and hit a diagonal shot that hit the post and bounced off the keepers back to give us a 2-0 lead. We killed the game off by added a third shortly after when a Cadrot cross was dummied by Kenga for the in rushing Fox who’s inital shot was saved but he was quickest to the rebound and cushioned the ball into the corner of the net. The floodgates then opened with N’Gola, freshly subbed on, adding a fourth with his first touch from a pinpoint Kenga cross from the left following it up with an over the top celebration. Reader then got his first after a cross from Harris, Kenga added his second from a freekick on the right that he dispatched into the top corner before Reader rounded things off with a tap-in after an initial shot was palmed into his path by the keeper.
Joint Man of the Match to Kenga who was unplayable at times and caused the Parks back line problems all afternoon and to Emmott with his first clean sheet of the season for the 4s. He didn’t have the busiest of afternoons but was ready when called upon and also helped launch a few attacks with some Victor Valdes like distribution.
