Warning- it’s a bit Dan heavy. After a last gasp winner last week, the 4s were beginning to believe their luck was changing. Taking the lead from a header from Steve (despite facing the wrong way), it certainly looked that the tide had turned. However, OG equalised courtesy of poor tracking back. A strong penalty appeal was turned down by the red. Things could’ve got worse but Dan kept out a curling shot with a diving save, then when their striker broke through, made an excellent one on one save. All square at half time. A wonder goal shortly into the second half gave OG the lead. Dan then tried to do his Jesus impression to rescue the ball from the river, but despite the beard and fear of crosses, failed to walk on water, much to the merriment of both teams. OG then benefitted from an OG, after a corner was turned in by an AP player. The score was given a gloss finish, when a bobble took the ball past Dan’s despairing dive. 4-1 final score. MOTM Dan

AP started well keeping the ball in the opposition half and creating chances. Billie looked dangerous using his pace to pass players but a lack of players in the box meant AP couldn’t capitalise. AP looked dangerous from set pieces after going 1-0 up. A few unlucky mistakes and a decent goal from the opposition left the keeper stood still. Heads went down in the second half and we got overrun in the centre of the field. Can’t remember the lads name but 11 (Nye) was the best player. Michael also played well

My attacking runs were almost as dangerous for my glass ankles as the opposition as they all ended with me hurtling into the floor at speed. We play well at 0-0 or 1 nil up, but we don’t really have a game plan when we’re chasing the game as we don’t score a lot of goals. We need everyone to take on responsibility for scoring some more goals. Man of the match Nye or new guy Matty had a good game.

AP on top in the first 20 mins Billy making good runs and is enjoying most the ball. Winning lots of corners and two clear cut chances fell to Paul and Billy. Great delivery from Nye set up the goal which Steve Biss pressured the keeper to win the header. Old G’s were dangerous on the break with quick forwards and a young squad. And had three unmarked players in the box for the goal some questionable defending from AP. Second half saw us concede early and old G’s were very organised leaving us not many options in their final third except crosses from deep. They scored a couple of soft goals and AP heads dropped. MOM – Nye, got assist and kept our passing game going, didn’t stop running either.

Unprofessional start to game by home side. We started bright, finding channels down each wing. Nye delivered a great free-kick into the box following a burst of left wing dominance. A decent leap allowed me to get in front of the keeper to flick it into the net; all about the delivery. Quickly conceeded a sloppy goal as we underestimated their pace up top and failed to track man for man which meant they were first to every loose ball. Paul & Billy had a few good chances to put us ahead, breaking behind their defence. 1-1 @ half-time. Second half we didn’t start well; loosing our midfield dominance and a few AP players guilty of dawdling & getting the ball stuck under their feet on a poor pitch. Conceded a screamer from a goal kick flick-on which Dan was unlucky not to get his fingers on. Home team confidence now high, started playing nice counter attacking football. AP more stretched as we chased equalizer, but conceded 2 more. Last 10 we looked stronger, having more possession around their box, but no clear cut chances to finish. Sportsmanship wise OG were worst so far in the league, football wise, one of the strongest. A tough combination to play against!

A disappointing loss but one that was against a good footballing side. Positives for AP were lots of possession and plenty of battle and spirit. However, we didn’t threaten enough in the 2nd half and made life too easy for them with their goals. MoM – Matt

A classic game of two halves. We dominated from the off and took a well deserved lead from a Biss header. We should have had a couple of more before OG equalised after a counter attack and some poor defending on our behalf. OG came out stronger in the 2nd half and took the lead after a loose ball fell to their #7 who hit one over Dan from about 20 yards out. OG started dominating the centre of the park and we struggled to get our passing game going again. From an OG corner yours truly sliced a clearance that beat Dan all ends up, my first AP goal in many years but sadly at the wrong end. OG then sat back allowing us to create a couple of half chances before being hit on the break to concede a fourth. OGs worth the 3 points overall although the scoreline was probably slightly flattering.
