With Jon away, Muggins here took over and the result capped a trying day in charge. First of all we had two no-shows while two players turned up late. By that time we were 4-0 down to a very good side who will probably win the division. It was a bit of a mismatch.
For the first 10 minutes we looked OK but after conceding from a free-kick, it all went pear-shaped and we were chasing shadows. It was 5-0 at half-time and we had barely strung two passes together or threatened the home team’s goal. To give the boys some credit we played much better in the second 45. The lads got stuck in, passed the ball better, kept a decent shape and created lots of chances. We kept going and the team spirit was excellent. Anthony scored his first for the club when he latched onto a rebound from the keeper then Joseph applied a cool finish to a good team move. Like OS we should have scored more.
Despite the defeat, there were loads of positives from a team showing at least five changes from the Vamps win. Ram, Torq, Sam, Lee and Anthony all played well. We look forward to Jon and the rest returning this week.
