Goal: Tabram
A really disjointed performance by the Reserves, as we struggled against one of the best 2nd XI’s around. What makes it a bit more galling is the fact that with a full squad, we could have given them a real game – missing were Gunes, Hancock, Simpson, Brown, Cornibert, Shaw-Morris, Graves.
We found ourselves 2 down in half an hour – 2 absolute exorcets that gave Jason no chance – in fact he pulled off an absolute worldie of a save early on. We got better the last 15 of the first half, and started brightly in the 2nd but 2 quick break goals finished us off on the hour. Tabs pulled one back with a smart volley from the edge of the area, and Ricky hit the post with 10 to go.
The most disappointing thing was that every single goal was preventable. We gave the opposition far too much space, did not challenge for second balls and, at times, completely gave up.
We are now out of both cups, so no distractions in the league. We have some points to make up, but are well placed in the chasing pack if we can string some results together.
Next Saturday we need to get back to our passing game – we are poor when we try hoof ball. Nottsborough showed us where we could be as a team, but we need to do the work to get there.
