‘ROLLING BACK THE YEARS’ was used once or twice in the bar, but believe me this A.P legends team had the skill and first touch of Mickey Porter or even Tony Bent in his prime for much of this game. I suppose playing once a year doesn’t help, a practice match before our next game is a must! Please Tony if you can.

Luckily for us Winchmore Hill was pretty poor, but after half an hour of legends pressure, they had one attack and scored from one of their only two decent players they had. Then a touchline run and probing cross from Hedgley was deflected in 1-1 and when nerves calmed we took control again. An inspired substitution, not by our manager, but me being knackered saw Fletcher go on, within minutes he finished aplomb after a great tackle and cross from A.Montague who then scored his second soon after to the cheers of A.Ps biggest crowd of the season, probably 40 ish.

Winchmore Hill were then finished by a monty two yarder. A memorable day made all the better beating that lot from up the road but also seeing so many old faces and getting to play on the one’s pitch and playing with the legends of A.P once again, with one exception Mr John Wotton who would have had a field day with his nutmeg speciality and space for his turning circle.  Also O’sheas interesting but vague team talk, the speed of Artemiou and Foley falling on his ar*e to the delight of all watching your greatly missed John but will always be remembered, this one’s for you x.

M.O.M- D.Rice for being  fitter than us and able to actually run with some pace.
