From the off, the Vamps seemed to have a real determination to get on top of us and dominate. We soaked up some early pressure early on but as the half progressed we started to settle and play some decent football. Josh and James causing the Vamps defence a few headaches with some clever balls to Darren and Fletch up front. At the back we looked settled as we kept their frustrated forwards at bay with relative ease. As the half wore on we started dominated ball possession and started creating chances. Steve Causer nearly scored his first goal ever with a header which flew over the crossbar (it’s coming Steve, hang in there 🙂 ). A goal looked on the cards and it proved to be so when a great run and finish by Josh saw us take a well deserved lead! Well done Josh!

Although things seemed to go smoothly in the first half, the second half proved to be a little different. Within a few minutes of the second half starting Dino(hamstring) and then Steve (gashed knee ) went off injured. Unfortunately with only one sub left. We had to play most the 2nd half with 10 men. Despite this deficit we really dug our heels in and worked as a unit to try preserve our lead.

As the Half progressed the pressure mounted and the extra man advantage started to show. The Vamps eventually got their reward with an equalizer. Instead of rolling over, we rolled up our sleeves and kept fighting, we were rewarded with our hard work when a loose ball dropped to Ricardo on the edge of the box who slammed the ball with some venom into the Back of the net. Fantastic!! We were back in the lead!

The game however was far from over, The Vamps were determined to get back into the match, they did this with a combination of football, some dodgy tackles and aggression as well as some unfortunate refereeing decisions that ensured they did just that. As the Match reached its dying embers they stole an equalizer, much to our dismay!

A disappointing result in a match we expected to win, we can however hold our heads up high considering the fact we played a half with ten men and the fact that their ref was hell bent on helping them secure a point and did us no favours. Roll on next weekend and lets pick up 3 points!
