Scorers: Chris Fletcher, Josh Roberts
With an unbeaten streak of 3 games in our pocket we reached the swamp of Albert road full of conidence of achieving another good result. We were so eager and up for this game James was up at the crack of dawn and at the ground with his boots on by 10AM in the morning (check the news letter times more carefully, meeting time is not the kick off time! 😉 lol)
We welcomed Jamie back from injury as well as our 6 foot 6 German goal keeper who was on loan to one of the higher up teams. Before we knew it kick off had arrived and in to battle we went.
The field was very uneven and certianly did not help us in our attempt to play passing football. The opposition kept coming at us but we stood our ground and managed to clear our lines.
As the 1st half progressed we started to put their defence under more pressure with some improved passing through the midfield to the forwards. Our hard work paid off when our fox in the box, Chris Fletcher, lobbed their keeper, leaving him stranded as the ball fell in the open net. GOOOAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!! We had taken the lead!!
Unfortunately for us this was short lived as we conceded a goal soon after. Manuel was surprised with a lob which caught him off his line and ended up in the net. 1-1!!!! They were back in it. (Manual had his girlfriend on the sideline and blamed her as he went to pick her some flowers which were growing on the edge of his box)
In the 2nd half we increased the tempo and started playing some better football. Richard had a couple of great long range shots which narrowly missed giving us the lead. A flash of excellent play from Josh saw us gain the lead! Josh in true predator mode, was onto the loose ball in a flash to make it 2-1! GOOOOALLLLLL!!! The opposition seem to drop their heads after this and we started to dominate the game. Young Darren tested the strength of the woodwork with a rasping shot with his left foot from the edge of the box. We started carving out more chances towards the end of the match but we could not increase our lead. The final whistle blew and we were very happy to take 3 much need points.
Laurant (AKA Mourinhio) was very happy and promised us a free holiday on Mr Abramovich’s yacht if we can pick up all 3 points aganst the league leaders next week. Thats 4 matches Unbeaten now. Well done boys
