AP8’s battled it out with the league leaders but again our passing was poor and we have forgotten how to put the ball in the back of the net. Olly Tolcher came closest for us with a long range effort in the first half, and Dave Potter did outstandingly well in goal making several saves and tackles to keep the scores level.
15 minutes from time Old Parks took the lead with a header after a defensive lapse. For all of our efforts to equalise we aren’t creating enough good chances to score – two perfect crosses from both Adam Jenkins and Steve Payne deserved better outcomes, and George Waldrum went very close in the dying minutes, forcing a good save from the Old Parks keeper. Inevitably we got punished in the final seconds as Old Parks doubled their lead on the break as we pushed forward in search of an equaliser.
This match was a repeat of the previous Saturday where we were panicky in possession and didn’t show enough quaity in the oppo’s penalty area. We battled hard as usual and the effort and attitude was, as always, good. When we find our goal scoring touch we’ll start winning again.
MOM – Dave Potter – The cat.
