To say the playing surface at Old Parks was like a crapet would be a giant understatement. Good thing then, that the neat surface suited the sleak pass and move ethics of the AP6’s.
We started positively with some good passages of play, knocking the ball around confidently. Both wingers Jack Dudmish and Richard Bowhill making great in roads into the Old Parks half. Anthony Shaw and Richard Fryer adding great impetus into the attacking threat. We threatened the Old Parks goal throughout with Sean Phelan and Seb Bell giving the sizeable Old Parks back four something to think about. Then wallop! after Old Parks were awarded a free, we seemed to switch off and Old Parks were in for their 1st goal. To add furter misery, Old Parks got a second goal which looked offside at best!
In the 2nd half, we went on the attack again and were awarded with an excellent goal from Richard Fryer. Game on! On trying to look for an equiliser we were caught again. From a great inital save from goalie Andy Ritchie, Old Parks were quick to knock the loose ball into the AP net. Although the final result doesn’t reflect the spirited performance, better results will follow if this team carry the same effort and application into future games!. The back four were solid throughout. A knock to Tom Trail late in the 2nd half didn’t help matters! The middle 4 and the two up front attacked with purpose and were involved in some good passages of play.
Roll on next Saturday..
