We took to the 1st eleven pitch against Old Parks , a team who we have had some very close games against in the past two years.
Things didn’t start to well with Dino pulling a calf in the warm up and Pitcher as it later turned out had failed to turn his computer on so didn’t realise that the game and kick off time had been changed , we didn’t ask how long he had been waiting at Albert Road before he thought about phoning someone.
Anyway onto the game and with the wind at their backs and quick running off the ball we were soon in trouble against a fast Old Parks side. Tom had come on for Dino and came under constance pressure as wave after wave on attacks came down that side. We soon found ourselves 4 nil down and that soon became 7 by half time although we did manage to slow the rate of scoring down. Jamie who had played really well in the first half picked up an injury and with no subs he had to go in goal with Scott taking his place on the field.
The second half was a different story as we finally started to play some football and even had 2 shots on target and many more off target . It really was a very open game and the 3 futher goals they scored came as a result of us leaving gaps as we tried to score the 8 we needed to repair the deficit from the first half.
Overall Old Parks were fitter , tougher in the tackle , ran off the ball , passed to their own players and were well organised. In fact most of the things we weren’t.
Despite the loss the positives to come out were great performances by € in what must have been a very stressful week as the yield on the Greek 2 year bond exceeded the number of goals the 7th’s have already conceded this year and Lewis who really was box to box in the middle of the midfield ( you would have thought he would have known better at his age )
