In the first of a series of features about opposition clubs and with the first team not in action we’ve picked out East Barnet Old Grammarians (EBOGs) as the first club to feature. With good reason as they feature  in games against our 6s, 7s and 8s this weekend.

History

As the name suggests, the origins lie in East Barnet Grammar School, which was founded in 1937 as East Barnet Modern School. It later changed to East Barnet Secondary School, before becoming a Grammar School in the late forties. In 1971, following the introduction of comprehensive education, the school was reorganised under the name of East Barnet Senior High School. Finally, in 1976, the school adopted its current name of East Barnet School. The old school was demolished in 2010 and a new school built on the landscaped site. A 75th Anniversary School Reunion is planned for the weekend of the 23rd/24th June 2012.

The EBOG Association clubhouse and sports ground is located at the end of Alan Drive, off Mays Lane, in Barnet.
