Goal: Wood
In a closely fought AFA Minor Cup match, played on what can only be described as a disgraceful Racecourse pitch, Alexandra Park 4s lost 2-1 to Old Wilsonians 4s.
Wilsonians went 1-0 up after 25 mins. After AP gave the ball away on the edge of the opposition box, Wilsonians broke sharply on the left, the ball was crossed and the oppo winger applied a sweet finish.
However, just before half time Cox was dragged down in the box. Penalty said the ref. Wood stepped up and finished (not sweetly – but still a goal).
With the scores at 1-1-, stand-in captain Jeater called for more desire and work rate at half time – sensing AP were half asleep. However, it was Wilsonians that looked the better team in the second half and went 2-1 up 10 minutes in with a well taken header from a corner.
In the last 10 minutes AP pushed hard and went to three at the back, but to no avail.
Full credit goes to Lambert (slotted in at right back and showed the fight required) and Marcus (MOM)
No credit goes to Old Wilsonians centre forward who jumped into three mistimed tackles in the first 10 minutes.
