Scorers: Miller, Kennedy
Coming off the back of a heavy defeat, the AP7s were keen to set the record straight at home to Norseman. After a few late changes to the lineup, the team started the game on the front foot getting stuck in early to the opposition who were keen to make it a physical encounter. Marshalled by the vet recruit Jones and the towering Cox, the defence repelled all attacks in the first half, getting up the pitch through an energetic display from Arthur in the middle of the park and a more agricultural display from the elder statesman Jaffer. The half came to the end after a stunning save from the oppo keeper from a trademark long range free kick from skipper Kennedy, keeping the score goalless at the break.
A positive start to the second half was dashed after a theatrical performance from the Norseman target man in the box gave them the chance to take the lead from the spot which they duly converted. Not to be deterred, the team continued to press through some direct play on the wings from Georgiou and Newson, and we got our reward when some neat footwork from Miller earned us a well deserved penalty which Kennedy converted with ease. With our tails up, we pushed for a winner on a heavy pitch, and it was Miller again in the box turning and converting a loose ball after a low corner, handing us a well fought victory against a tough opposition.
