Crouch End Vamps 5s 2 – Alexandra Park 10s 4

SAL Junior Novets Cup | September 24, 2016

Scorers: Choudrek, D’lima, Yiassoumis, OG

Alexandra palace 10’s traveled to crouch end vampires this week to try and continue
their positive start to the season.

AP shaping up in the new look 4-5-1 for the season started off brilliantly and dominated
the early exchanges. A free kick from Tom D’lima 35 yards out close to the touchline
was delightfully floated in and with a little hand from the elements expertly lobbed the

The tempo dropped slightly from AP after going 1-0 ahead and we were undone by a
ball over the top (again with a hand from the elements) and it was 1-1.

As some of you reading this will understand there are some big decisions you take as
being Skipper but losing the coin toss and being made to kick up hill and into the wind
in the first half sometimes you have to shut up shop and ride it out until half time.
A dangerous ball again over the top and after the striker rounded our keeper to make it
2-1 to the vampires.

This sparked the tempo to rise and just before the break Matt bombed on from full back
and fizzed in a delightful bull which was steered home by one of the Vamps.

The half time team talk was full of optimism and AP noticeably raised our game in the
second half. Senior débutant Carlo up top was proving himself a nuisance with some
great touches and quick feet which eventually lead to us winning a free kick. Galloway
expertly whipped in a ball which was dispatched by Marek with a glancing flick to make
it 3-2 to AP. We did have to weather a few storms throughout the second half and we
were almost made to rue some of our missed chances (the most noticeable one being
George Coleman putting a ball into Row Z / the forest of muswell hill playing fields in
front of an empty net ) Some great defending helped to keep the score 3-2 in a goal
mouth scramble.

We had a noticeable amount of corners in this game and the deliveries were consistency
hitting the penalty spot and causing pandemonium in the Oppo’s box.
We were finally rewarded where Tom floated in another great ball and Alex Yiassoumis
towered above the Vampires defence to put the game to bed.

Ap saw the game out and have had a great start to the season. Great performances all round.
