Scorers : Arowosafe, Boon, N’Gola
The last AP 4s game of the 2015/16 season saw us take on the 5s on a classic end of season bone dry Pitch 2 which although not ideal playing conditions at least restricted the number of “reducers” that had littered the reverse fixture.
We started by far the strongest and were in complete control throughout the first half. Casswell and Boon, making his AP debut, were winning everything in midfield with Filipovic, Osyindu and Curran providing the invention just behind Arowosafe up front. Our first came through Arowosafe who was played through after some interplay between Boon and Casswell, he shimmied past the last defender before slotting home. We kept the pressure up and but for a couple of great saves by Cook in the 5s goal and a great blocking tackle from Wright could have had the game wrapped up very early. As it was for all our possession we only added a second before half time with Boon knocking in a low cross with about 5 mins to go.
The first 20 mins of the second half was a complete reversal as we looked like we were auditioning for extras in the Walking Dead…we stopped competing and the 5s threw themselves into everything. We conceded three sloppy goals which I’m sure are described in detail in the 5s match report. Losing the lead at least shock us out of our complacency and we took the game to the 5s with Osyindu and Wilson going close before we equalised with about 15 mins to go when a pin point cross from Filipovic from the left found N’Gola about 7 yards out to glance a header in. N’Gola created a great chance for us to take back the lead with a mazy run down the left but he was unable to find anyone with his cross that ran across the goal. The last 10 mins we fairly cautious with neither team wanting to make a mistake with a draw a fair result in the end.
