Scorers: Myers, White, Kamara
The 6s cup run continued with another trip to south London, this time against a good Carshalton 4’s. We arrived to probably the best pitchs we’ve played on so far but also to the news 3 players were stuck in traffic and unlikely to be there for kick off. Not an ideal start for the quarter final but we started ok with our make shift 11, Charlie helping out in goal again this week and what a performance he put in for us! Pulling off some great saves at the beginning to deny Carshalton an early lead. It took us a a little while to get in to our usual rhythm, Jack Gillespie causing a nuisance down the right hand side and Jack Dudmish on the other side who both played a part in our first goal by Kamara who slotted home after some good work. This calmed the nerves but Carshalton continued to press were unlucky not to draw level, however we were able to grab a second this time though Tommy who was playing as a second striker this week. The score stayed at 2-0 for half time.
We knew we needed a third to be sure of going into the next round as Carshalton were looking dangerous and capable of turning the game around if they grabbed an early goal in the second half. Somthing they would have got if it were not for Charlie. Thankfully we were able to get the third through an unlikely source, Mike Myers popping up at the far post to drive it home. 3-0 final score.
Great team performance and every one battled right to the end and wanted the result. Thanks to Charlie for helping out and covering in goal, man of the match no doubt. Have to mention Carshalton, who’s facilities and hospitality was right up there with the best and gave us a really good game. But a great way to finish up the year let’s hope we can continue the run next year! Bring on the semi final!
