A delightful sunny saturday afternoon staged another cracking win for the 5s against the only team to take points off us in the league this season! This game did turn out to be a little bit of a farce however a convincing win has put us on the final straight to promotion!
Things started badly with Liam’s local laundrette service making an absolute hash of our kit…mixing up two kits in one bag…fair play to Doyle he rushed back and brought the rest of the kit on 3pm!
When we started it was quite clear to see that Norsemen were not up for a big game against us! After the first 5 mins we got a foothold in the game and started to dominate…Paul Forbes causing havoc down the right and after a great run and brilliant cross, Wilson slid in to tap in! A second goal was added quickly when Paddy Knight scored and outrageous 22 yard finish…hitting the post and ending up in the back of the net! All was going well until 26 minutes in and Norsemens keeper collapsed away from play! Dodimead took the role as chief paramedic and an ambulance was called. There was a delay of around 45 minutes as the paramedics made sure the keeper was well enough to escort to hospital. We wish him a speedy recovery and the AP team have received a glowing reference from the games ref on how we conducted ourselves.
With a large delay, we finally got going and it was quite clear that Norsemen would have been keen for the match to be abandoned! The rest of the game was no contest as we over ran the opposition and improved our goal difference with another clean sheet and a heavy win! Wilson got his second of the game taking his tally up to 9 this season (much to Knights) hate! Morris added his first for the 5s with such a ‘classy’ finish…off the goalkeeper then off the bar at the second attempt! And then finally Dodimead got his goal he has been waiting for such a long time for! All his hard work has paid off!
So another victory and we have our fingertips on promotion but no slip ups are allowed as we are going for an unbeaten season! Come on lads!
