Crouch End Vampires 4s 2 – Alexandra Park 4s 2

SAL Minor Div 1 North | November 8, 2014

Scorers: Robertson, Forbes

To avoid writing the same match report for the 3rd week in a row I will keep this brief. After our confidence boosting win last week we arrived at Vamps looking to make it two wins in a row. For once we started off on the front foot and took an early lead when Robertson latched onto a through ball, rounded the keeper and slotted home. The early goal settled our nerves and we played some wonderful one touch football and created a number of chances that were unfortunate not to put away. Despite us having the majority of possession we conceded an equaliser when a long punt from the Vamps keeper got caught in the wind and carried to the edge of our box where their striker got to the ball first and knocked it past the advancing Collins. We didn’t let this get us down and we continued having the better of it with our best chance to extend our lead just before halftime when a Robertson shot destined for the top corner was kept out by a great save from the Vamps keeper. 1-1 at halftime when really we should have been four goals to the good.

The second half continued in much the same vein with AP dominating and creating chance after chance which were denied by a combination of our own profligateness and some resolute Vamps defending. We took the lead again with about 20 mins of the game remaining when a Gregory freekick from the right was smartly headed in by Forbes. The Vamps, however, equalised shortly afterwards from another long ball from the back that once again their striker was quickest to. We pushed for the winner but with tiring legs due the heavy pitch we weren’t able to create any clear cut chances.
