Broomfield 5s 1 – Alexandra Park 4s 2

Minor Division 2 North | April 12, 2014

Scorers: Wellman(2)

Another tough game for the mighty 4s again this week against third in the table knowing another win would keep the pressure on Norsemen. We started well on a terrible pitch and were ahead after 10. Jacko broke down the right and squared to the on rushing Denzel who blasted past the keeper. 1-0.

Broomfield pushed on in search of an equaliser launching balls into the corner. The back four weathered most of these and any corners that were given away were dealt with. We had one or two chances to extend the lead before half time but just couldn’t get the ball in the net.

Half time talk was all about trying to stretch Broomfield and smash in a few goals. Unfortunately what followed was 45 minutes of rubbish. We couldn’t get going at all. Once we reached three successive passes we gave the ball away. To be fair the pitch and Broomfield were not helping our case.

Broomfield got an equaliser when the ball spilt through to their striker who poked into an empty net. With around five minutes of the exhibition of football remaining we retook the lead. Denzel rushed onto a short back pass and finished past the keeper at the second time of asking. 2-1.

Again another good result despite the performance. Only two games left now so let’s keep going.
