Scorers: Gunes, Hubbard

We of course had the normal rigmarole surrounding a midweek fixture – people can’t play, called in to work etc. This is why we hate midweek games! We did manage to get a team out though, all be it with Skipper Macca in goal.

We did have an axe to grind however, as we were stuffed 4-0 by this lot away in our worst performance of the season, and let’s just say they were not the most gracious of winners.

We started well and had OS on the back foot, despite the ball Egan supplying being like a bowling ball. The defence protected Macca brilliantly, and despite this he let an innocuous looking through ball through his hands, and it was only the covering Fabb that cleared off the line.

We took the lead when Dan Wilidng (reborn at right back!)played an amazing crossfield ball for Ozan to acrobatically head home. Any real threat OS had came from their livewire striker, who enjoyed going to ground at any opportunity – the ref was not having any of it though.

The game was over as a spectacle when one of their players twisted his knee and had to go off  – with the bare 11 they were down to 10.

We scored again about 10 into the second half, when Chris hit a shot that Mikey deflected past the keeper.  OS tried to throw everything at us but we held firm – Macca made one excellent save, but all they really had was the lump into the box that Simmo, Macca and Egan were able to repel well.

So all in all a pleasing win  – a little bit disappointing that the oppo refused to return our 3 cheers, but a few of their lads heartily congratulated us – thank you.

Team – McLoughlin, Fabb, Simpson, Egan, Wilding, Nicholau, Hubbard, Harvey, Manu, Gunes, Nicholas.

MOTM – Louie Nich – best game of the season and pulled the strings throughout.
