The 8s were up against it in both games of this double header against the Stationers. It was always going to be tough against a team going for the league and cup double and who keep the ball better than anyone else in the division. To our credit we battled away throughout the two matches and never stopped working. Olly Tolcher played up front on his own, worked his socks off and was a constant worry to the home team. Our 5 man midfield did their best to contain a very good attacking Stationers side, with Ricardo Kirton playing very well. In between the Stationers four goals there were close efforts from Nigel Bagley, Daniel and Jack Parsons. James Broome defended well at full back and Jamie Roberts was, as usual, solid in goal and made a number of saves to keep the score respectable.

At 4-0 down, Olly Tolcher scored an excellent goal for the 8s, and wins M.O.M for the threat he caused the home team when he had the ball.

The 8s ran out of steam in the second game and after gifting the Stationers an opening goal, the game was all but over. We kept battling right to the end though, and the same effort in the last two league matches should give us more reward. Gavin Johnson worked very hard in midfield but M.O.M goes to Kevin Soar, who got forward as much as possible but also put in a lot of effort to track back down the left hand side.
