Alexandra Park 4s 4 – Winchmore Hill 6s 2

SAL Minor Div 2 North | January 7, 2012

Scorers: Robinson, J.Morris (3)

A perfect day to play football and thanks to Mr Carter the hill was looking like Wembley.

We won the toss and played uphill first half. A very solid performance followed and AP were by far the better side. Winchmore Hill were not getting behind the impressive back four of McGlogan, Moruzzi, Johnson and Murphy. They did hit the post and Edelman pulled off a good save to his left but on both occasions sloppy passing had given the ball away and these were speculative long shots, unlike Lambert’s fierce drive late in the first half from all of 45 yards which came crashing back off the cross bar after nearly snapping it in two.

Nil – Nil at half time and AP were in the driving seat. The second half started and we immediately went 1 up. Ziggy creating some magic down the right followed by a hanging cross which eventually ended up in the back of the net via the impressive Robinsons left shin.

Having done the hard work of getting in front we immediately conceded a very unlucky equaliser. Johnson winning a good defensive header but it rebounding off the oppo players back and beating a despairing dive from Edelman.

Morris replaced Lambert with Bell moving into the centre of midfield. The wandering Morris had been told to stay up front and play down the middle of the pitch so immediately decided to go and have a chat to their right back. However, once the milky bar kid got into action there was no stopping him. His first was a fine scissor kick volley, the second a powerful drive which left the keeper grasping thin air and the third was a cultured outside of the right foot 25 yarder.

4 – 1. Game over. Which meant we switched off and conceded a late consolation goal.

A great team performance. Special mention goes to Seb and Angelo who had their best games of the season.
