An excellent result against a very good Broomfield team but we still came away from this game feeling like we should have won. Broomfield had most of the early running and looked sharp up front. As with most games this season, we don’t really start to play well until we are at least 2 nil down and the opposition were more than happy to help us out with this. Two balls over the top and their fast front players scored from their only real chances.
Once we realised we were at our favoured position of 2-0 down we relaxed and started to play some excellent football. Torq and Richard started to gain control of the centre of midfield and the chances started to come. New boy Josh Roberts latched onto the good ball on the right wing and played a great ball into the box that was duly dispatched by Josh Hyde to make it 2-1.
Then came the second half and our usual time to fall asleep again. A quick counter attack and a great strike from the oppo centre forward and we were 3-1 down. Despite feeling a little sorry for ourselves, we still pressed forward and another good cross into the box was inexplicably handled deliberately by the opp defender. Red card and a penalty that Darren put away well.
We pressed hard against the 10 men and created loads of chances. One was taken well by Josh Roberts who rounded the keeper and slotted the ball into the empty net. At that stage we felt like we the only team likely to win this game but again missed chance after chance (one open goal after all the hard work had been done – I name no names!) and basically ran out of time. Curse the 90 minute nature of the noble game of association football!
Positives : 3 really good goals, plenty of chances created, we have 2 players called Josh
Negatives : missed chances, too much in-team slagging off
