AGM 2011

Committee | June 14, 2011

Local MP Lynn Featherstone clearly unhappy when Simmo mentions the sparsely attended AGM.

The AGM was sparsely attended – clearly a sign that you think that the club is extremely well run!
A comprehensive list of club officers will be published after the committee meet for the first time, but in the mean time we saw some people stepping into posts for the first time – Will Irvine steps in as Vice Chairman of Selection – Bagley is rubbing his hands with glee at having a new protégé – be careful Will, Baggers has been heard muttering that he wants to shape you into the new Farhad!

John Morris steps up from Reserve Team to First Team Manager, with a remit to get the team back promoted at the first attempt – our thoughts and prayers are with you John! Into his stead will come last teams 3rd Team Manager Keith Nicholas, who will be looking to push the Reserves to Promotion into Division 1 next season. All round Mr Nice Guy and TV personality Duncan Anderson will be stepping into the role of 3rd XI Manager – hopefully he can push them over the top and out of the basement this year. Jimmy Lambert will be stepping into the Smudger shaped hole in the 4th XI, and hoping to bounce straight back up to Division One. Jimmy took the reins when Smudge was unavailable and proved himself to be an excellent and motivational skipper – best of luck! The man who nearly caused a Rupert the Bear induced riot, Andy Burwell will be taking over the 5th XI. It is hoped that Burwell can whip his troops into shape and keep up a sustained assault on promotion this season. Mike Myers will continue in his role as 6th XI Captain, further soothing us all of the Millsy era nightmare in the early part of the season (notice that New Zealand has had ANOTHER earthquake since he went out there? Coincidence?) Andy Brough will continue as 7th XI Captain, so we have another season of high-brow match reports to look forward to! Finally Simon Tolcher will be replacing Bagley as 8th XI Captain – possibly the hardest Skippers role in the club – best of luck!
Please rest assured that committee is working tirelessly behind the scenes to get things right for the coming season – we are in the midst of sorting a new ground for the first part of the season when the drainage work will take place, organising a training venue, sorting kit and equipment etc – all the things you come to expect when you play on a Saturday.
Let’s get things right from the beginning this season, train hard and make yourself available – as ever, committee will be left to do the rest.
