The relegation battle for the underperforming 1’s against BB Eagles at GSK Sports Ground ended in a 2 -1 defeat to keep the ones at the foot of Division 2. Tom Spencer with the AP goal and Clifton said “We have to win 6 games out of a possible 9 if we are to achieve our target of staying up. I believe it’s achievable”.
The reserves are out of the AFA Intermediate Cup going down 0-1 at The Racecourse to Hon Artillery Company in their quarter final.
Kurt’s 3rd XI also lost in the cup, to Nottsborough 3-6. Ashley Brade, Kurt Fullerton and Stewart Johnson with the AP goals. The 4s result is TBC. The 5s were beaten 2 – 1 in the other game at the Racecourse – McDermot scoring a penalty on his debut but Old Finchleians nicking the win in the last few minutes.
The 6’s got their first and last win under Millsy’s tenure as Captain. They beat fellow strugglers Winchmore Hill 2-1 yesterday with the New Zealand bound skipper scoring the winner. Wayne Rose with the other AP goal. The departing skipper “the winner in my last game for the club. You could not make that up could you!”
The 7s drew 3 – 3 with Old Finchleians (goalscorers TBC) although it is known that Galloway missed a penalty. And finally the 8’s were in good goalscoring form but couldn’t avoid defeat in their SAL quarter final match against Old Stationers.
