Somewhere in the distance the 2s play Old Magdalenians

With the 1s without a game this weekend attention turned to the reserves who were in AFA Intermediate Cup action against Old Magdalenians 1s. Goals from Spencer and Kenga saw them through 2 – 0 and stretching their winning streak to 4 games.

Alex “penalty threat” Reynolds in happier times

The 3s are in good form too and although we don’t have any goalscorers details we know they beat Old Easthamieans 9 – 0 in the 2nd round of the SAL cup. The 4s weren’t quite as lucky and despite a goal apiece from McKeekin and Rice went down 3 – 2 at home against Civil Service 4s. Mark Smith has asked me not to mention Alex Reynolds penalty miss (Alex “it wasn’t a miss, it was saved”) so I wont.

The 5s returned to action and to winning ways. Also playing Old Easthamieans (4s) they managed to repeat the scoreline of 6 – 0 from a few weeks ago, Sulemanji (2), Je Scantlebury, Kralik (2) and K Howarth all notching.

Cup heartbreak for Millsy’s 6s this week – having taken the game into extra time at 2 – 2 (Dawkins and Dudnesh) they were eventually beaten when the final AP penalty was missed sending BB Eagles through (5 – 4 p).

Congratulations to Andy Brough and the 7s who beat Old Finchelians 8s 5 – 1 (Burwell, Phillips (3), £) and are now topping the league table. The 8s bounced back from last weeks disappointment with a much improved performance although Weavers goal wasn’t enough as they went down 3 – 1 to Old Owens 7s.
