And so it came to pass, a season for the 10th’s which saw a lot of good play, some great new players and a lot of laughs. I think we would have settled for that at the start. The skipper having recovered from his broken finger nail last week put on the gloves again as there was no keeper.
Old Parks were going for the title and needed to win this game. They started brightly and were soon pressing us all over the pitch. We went one nil down from an own goal and that was the way it stayed until half time. The second half then saw a goalkeeping nightmare from the skipper, a long shot came in and in a split second the skipper went to kick it away and a late bobble saw us go 2 nil down. Tom Da Lima was immediately heard shouting down his mobile phone …Call for A….mit. The goal came just as we were really getting into the game and were creating chances and naturally missing them. The keeper then produced a number of great saves but couldn’t stop the third.
Thanks for everyone who played for the 10th’s this year. Max and his band of amigo’s Tom, George, Alex, Dominic and Danny. Reece who did a Danny Rose moving from midfield to left back and proved to be one of the finds of the season. The Cat and Bafta boy for picking the ball out of the net, Galloway who was always available and a great team player and Fletcher who confused everyone by actually passing the ball to someone in a goal scoring position.
The one win against Old Stationers was captured on film for posterity even if we had to drag in Brough the very young and cousin Joe to secure the result. For all those who have played for the 10s or been in a club role this year then I will be buying you all a beer at the club dinner so see you there.
