Scorer: Arowosafe
The 4s welcomed fellow mid table dwellers Old Finchleans 5s to the Racecourse in a crucial game to determine who would claim the coveted fifth place spot in Minor Division 1 North.
We were slow off the mark as the game got underway and were made to pay, as within five minutes Finchleans scored; A flick on from a corner finding its way in at the near post. We withstood a period of Finchleans pressure after this but once the midfield trio of Earle, Jones and Tolcher started winning the midfield battle with started taking control of the game. We went close a couple of times before we got a deserved equaliser with Earle winning a tackle deep in his own half before Jones played in Arowsafe who beat two defenders for pace before lobbing the on rushing keeper. 1-1 at half time.
Second half we continued to control the game but failed to threaten their back line even when awarded an indirect freekick 3 yards out. Finchleans retook the lead with another soft goal following a corner. From then we huffed and puffed but didn’t really trouble their well organised defence. A rare defensive lapse allowed Finchleans to get a third with time running out.
