Alexandra Park 9s 0 – Winchmore Hill 9s 3

Minor Divsion 5 North | November 2, 2013

A weekend that promised fun, excitement and sparks….. sadly that only began once we’d performed a dismal game against Winchmore Hill.

A changed squad, with multiple midfield swaps to give 10s players a go, and a different pre match regime was planned. The traffic, the weather, my incorrect number published were all factors to a poor start. In most of our now notorious and overly common poor starts we’ve finished strongly but we did ourselves no justice this time around. We offered little magic, so no player of the game this time. Albeit a notable performance from Mike P in defence.

Now it’s tempting to just rant about mistakes and poor play, lack of passion and bad decision making. But that’s not what we’re about. We know we must try harder to get the ball and to win the ball, it doesn’t need me saying.

The feeling of winning is not miles away, if that isn’t enough to drive us forward, then an impassioned plea that I soon turn 30 and live in fear of a life alone, so I need this, I need football. Football is what we have, football is what we love, football is what we know. Now let’s move forward; make the tackles, focus on the ball, communicate better, make good decisions, be confident and enjoy yourself.

A slightly different approach going forward. Now let’s get positive.
