BB Eagles gave us a footballing lesson on pitch 2 handing out our first real stuffing. At least we had a full squad this week including a couple of debutants in Raxworthy and McDermott. Some no-shows were again a disappointment.
After a bright start and a goal from Darren (double figures now this season) we got sloppy and gave the ball away repeatedly. The visitors took advantage. They kept the ball better, moved it around with shorter passes and crucially, got it out wide where there was more green stuff, to pepper the AP box with crosses. We went 2-1 behind but Mounir scored a cracking individual goal to make it 2-2 at the break. The second half was a battle as the pitch turned to glue. We failed to get out of our own half under constant BB pressure. With 20 minutes to go they finally got a third from another cross. The floodgates then opened and we conceded 5 more. They deserved to win but 8-2 was cruel. AP man of the match: Joe Coward – non-stop effort in midfield.
