Scorers: Madgwick, Tullett.
A good performance by the 8s but the 7s won because they took their chances thanks to a bit more quality up front.
The first 20 minutes were scrappy and even in terms of possession. There were few chances so your correspondent had nothing to do in goal for the 8s. It all changed when we had Tyrone replaced Bagley, not that Ty could be blamed for the opening 7s goal. Some neat passing caught us square at the back and Leo Cotterill scored. The second was a shot through a crowded box by Wyn-Bennis. (I didn’t see the third). Just before half-time Eric bundled one in following a corner to give us hope.
Kicking downhill in the second 45, the 8s dominated but couldn’t score. Max Wild made a great save from Andrew Brown. A crucial save. We continued to press and on another day, Andrew could have had a hat-trick. The 7s broke away to score a fourth but Darren scored a cracker from the edge of the box with 10 minutes to go. The boys fought hard and we played some good stuff at times. There were good performances from Brown, Emlyn Robbins, Pratik Depala and debutant Marcel Frei. It was disappointing there were so many cry-offs (5-6) in the 8s especially being a home game, at the club, versus the 7s. That was poor.
