The 8s got battered by a superior team in every department. They should coast this division. Even at full strength we would have struggled, but missing Eric, Emlyn, Thomas and Steve did us no favours. This meant a new look team again. Early OFs pressure meant we were chasing shadows. The first two goals were keeper errors while others were taken with aplomb. At least we scored: Alec Wright’s through ball caused confusion in their defence and Callum lobbed the advancing keeper from 25 yards.
We turned round 4-1 down, but it could have been a lot worse. Straight after the re-start I was ball watching they scored their fifth. From that point, we started competing and putting in some tackles and blocks etc. and creating half chances. Alex Wright and Niall Joyce had fine games while the pace and trickery of David Wyn-Bennis made a difference up top. As we tired OFs pushed on again to score some outrageous goals. Overall, a horrible defeat but we didn’t give up and kept playing to feet right to the end.
